Malaysia
In the late 90s, Malaysia promoted itself to tourists as “Truly Asia”. Three decades later, we can vouch for the slogan. Malaysia, a Muslim-majority country with significant Chinese and Indian diasporas, can truly lay claim to represent Asia in its entirety. A walk across Kuala Lumpur can take you from old-timey colonial buildings to some of the tallest structures in the world. The marketing has been muted in recent years, making Malaysia a somewhat underrated gem in Southeast Asia.
